There is a sub-plot to the major story that will unwind on Sept. 10 in Huntington, W.Va., when the Mountaineers go to play their annual in-state rivalry game against Marshall.
The coaches are friends.
Doc Holliday took over at Marshall this year, leaving his job as WVU Coach Bill Stewart’s associate head coach and top recruiter. Holliday, who had also coached at North Carolina State and Florida during a long, distinguished career before landing his first head coaching job, is close to a number of the WVU coaches and staff.
