With its latest verbal commitment – 285-pound offensive guard Stone Underwood from Copiah-Lincoln Junior College – it has become apparent that third-year head coach Dana Holgorson and his staff have elected to fill West Virginia University’s immediate needs from the junior college ranks.
Underwood, who is expected to graduate in May and have three years to compete his two remaining years of eligibility, is the sixth non-high school recruit for the Class of 2013.
And, it doesn’t appear as though he will be the final one.

I have a question – maybe I’m missing something.
If Jucos count against incoming and not graduating class, doesn’t that mean in two years we’ll have a shortage of players as Jucos and 4 year players graduate at the same time?
will we be perpetually locked into the juco route to replenish depth? are we putting all our eggs in the win-now basket?
That’s a great point smeer! To me, signing 3/4 Jucos per year is acceptable, any more and you end up chasing your tail as you point out. However, one year of signing an increased number of Jucos is not necessarily a bad thing as long as you have a young team. “IF” those Jucos come in and play immediately it allows a staff/team to help bridge the gap of an inexperienced team. In theory, by the time those Jucos graduate the young guys will have spent time in the system and will be much better prepared to replace the graduating players.
I agree, if this becomes a normal process, signing 6/7 Jucos per year, it could turn into a problem.
