Always complimentary of his opponent, West Virginia head football coach Bill Stewart applauded Coastal Carolina head coach David Bennett for his off-the-field endeavors.
“He’s a great father, a great man and has a lovely family,” Stewart said in his first weekly conference call. “I’ve known him a long time. He’s a very proud South Carolina man, as I am a West Virginia man.”

Regarding the Nike Pro Combat uniforms…
According to Nike spokeswoman Cindy Hamilton, the uniforms are “engineered to provide superior protection and durability, while utilizing advanced fabrics and tooling that reduce weight.”
I’m happy that WVU was selected, and I think the whole thing is pretty cool. But, come on… as someone that has at least played football (granted, at the prep level), I can state unequivocally that the uniform doesn’t offer “protection” except for maybe stopping a linebacker’s fingernails from digging in to your arm. And “weight”? The few ounces that the uniform weighs isn’t noticeable on top of the ten or fifteen pounds that make up the pads.
Guys, I do not care that the Coastal Coach is a great father with a lovely family. I just want us to kick their butts convincingly. I am quite frankly tired of hearing all these comments about our opposing coaches and teams. We need to respect everyone and dominate our opponents. Teams need to fear the Mountaineers. Take no prisoners and act and play with a #1 team. With these comments, we are just nice good old boys. This style does not work for me!
Bill Stewart is like your local poitician…he knows he isn’t qualified for the job but figures if enough people like him, he can stick around awhile.
Come on Denny, its way to early to start coach bashing. At least wait until we go to LSU and blow a 21 pt halftime lead to lose it in the 2nd half, ala Auburn 2009……..
