The Daily News has learned that barring an eleventh-hour course reversal, Todd Haley will not be joining the Jets’ coaching staff. Haley, who was fired by the Chiefs after Week 14, interviewed for an offensive staff position last week.

Rex Ryan’s team also lost defensive coach Mike Smith to the college ranks. A source confirmed that Smith, who was helpful in Aaron Maybin’s resurgence this year, will accept a position coaching linebackers and act as a de facto co-coordinator for West Virginia. The Jets had offered Smith, who was an intern last season, the full-time outside linebackers coaching job after the season.
