Palm Beach County players on West Virginia want to steal the spotlight from FSU in Gator Bowl

This year’s Gator Bowl in Jacksonville is being celebrated as legendary Florida State football coach Bobby Bowden’s last game, but there’s a group of Palm Beach County players on West Virginia who’d rather make it a special day for themselves.

Mountaineers’ starting quarterback Jarrett Brown of Palm Beach Lakes High School, wide receiver Alric Arnett of Glades Central and punter Scott Kozlowski of Royal Palm Beach are all seniors who’ve made an impact this year on a team that includes 24 players from Florida.

Growing up in West Palm Beach, Brown’s favorite team was Florida State, so he gets the whole Bowden thing and understands why the spotlight is on the Seminoles. But even though his No. 18 Mountaineers (9-3) are slight favorites against FSU (6-6) on Jan. 1, he sees his team as the underdog “because so much attention has been put (on Florida State).
