Yep, you read that right. I mean, it’s right here in black and white and it was said by college football guru Kirk Herbstreit so it must be true! Right?
In his 10th annual ‘Herbie Awards’ over on the espn.com website, ole Herbstreit lists our Mountaineers as the team ‘most likely to disappoint’.
Clearly I am biased, but I think the guy is completely full of poo and I can’t wait to prove him wrong. But talk is cheap and now is the time, as Tavon Austin recently stated, to put up or shut up. Bring it!

You got to love Tavon. great attitude. We need to royally kick some butt. Run up the score on everybody and to regain our swagger!!!
I agree with yuou Ern. It is time to show everyone!!
Herbstreit has had it in for us ever since we made his boyfriend Richy pay up. He also said that Rich was a fantastic fit at Michigan and we all see how that is working out.
Herbie was a crappy collegiate QB, and somehow he has become an “expert” on the game. He’s wrong more often than not in his predictions, and the fact that he picks UConn for the Big East title is just laughable.
We’ll see how it plays out, but I’d bet the farm that ol’ Kirk is wrong again.
I have a special button on my remote control for use when the ESPN talking heads come on, especially when the topic is WVU, its labled “MUTE”. Its too bad that so many of our games are on ESPN. If you ever follow CBS or Fox WVU is an entirely different team than the one portrayed on ESPN.
The problem that WVU faces right now with the media is the perception that Bill Stewart isn’t a good head coach. Plain and simple. We have exceptional talent all over the field with the only question marks being O-Line play and inexperience at QB. I get aggravated too but if we go out and knock off LSU, then you’ll start to hear the complimentary commentary come our way. I think we have a real shot at 10 or 11 wins with our roster but count me as a skeptic, too, when it comes to Jeff Mullen’s abilities as an offensive coordinator and Bill Stewart’s abilities as a head coach. This is the year for Bill Stewart to prove the doubters wrong…or right.
Perhaps this is one of the most interesting blogs that I have ever seen. Interesting article, Funny comment. Keep it up!
