It may be the fourth quarter, but Mainland’s Rick Rumph always comes up big when things are on the line.
Rumph, an all-state cornerback, has cleared an academic hurdle and has verbally committed to play at West Virginia University this season, Mainland coach Scott Wilson said Friday.
Rumph had signed with Division II Catawba College on National Signing Day on Feb. 1 after failing to qualify to play Division I football.
