The status of West Virginia senior middle linebacker Pat Lazear, who missed the season-opening win against Coastal Carolina Saturday, is unclear for Friday’s game at Marshall.
Lazear, a starter in West Virginia’s intricate 3-3-5 system, has been attempting to fight back from a leg injury he sustained in preseason camp when he was accidentally leg-whipped.
Against Coastal Carolina, Anthony Leonard, a senior from McKeesport, started in Lazear’s place, shifting over from strongside. That move elevated junior Najee Goode to the starter at strongside.
