Blogpoll Ballot 2009 – Week 6

The hypocrisy in the polls (not ours, mind you) is ridiculous. Please allow me a little leeway to explain.

I see this year after year. The voters take into account the history of a school more so than what is happening in the present.

Michigan, while never displaying any kind of defense at all, jumped into the top 25 after starting the year undefeated. They’ve suffered 2 losses since that time and now have fallen out of the top 25. At least WVU has showed some defense this season.

Notre Dame is another perfect example how the top 25 voting is a joke. They’ve lost to the Michigan team discussed above and would have lost to Michigan St. had their receiver been able to catch a pass. It took a horrible coaching performance and a gift timeout at the end of the game for them to beat a 1-5 Purdue team and it took overtime for them to beat Washington.

And somehow Notre Dame is more deserving of the top 25 than West Virginia? Ummm yeah…ok!

Different year, same old voters voting for the same old traditional powers of the past. In college football, it should be about ‘what have you done for me lately’.

Thankfully the good readers of this site have a place to go to see a real top 25. One where teams are ranked based on their play on the football field this season vs. what they’ve done in the past. But hey, if you disagree with something feel free to let us know! Enjoy…
